VISIBLE MENDING BASICS

Learn how to extend the life of your clothing by incorporating hand stitching techniques like appliquΓ©, embroidery, and sashiko into repairs.

This workshop is perfect for beginners or those wanting to rediscover and build on forgotten skills to transform worn or damaged garments. Along with gaining practical sewing techniques, participants will be inspired to add personality and meaning to their clothes in creative ways while embracing a more sustainable approach to fashion!

Materials: I provide a range of tools and fabrics for use during the session.

Some organisations choose to provide their own take-home mending kits (needles, threads etc.) to encourage participants to continue their mending journey. I can provide these for an additional charge (as per example quote).

Others suggest that participants bring what they have in their existing sewing kits.

Venue Requirements/Setup Needs:

  • Chairs and tables (to accommodate workshop participants).
  • Additional table with access to power outlet for setting up workshop materials and tools.
  • Good lighting with tea & coffee making facilities a bonus!

Sustainability considerations: This workshop already has a strong sustainability focus, using fabric scraps and materials repurposed from other industries.

Visible mending blends function and creativity and encourages slow fashion by offering a sustainable way to repair, personalise, and reconnect with your items of clothing.
